Adoption Policy & Procedures
Application must be completed in person by the office;
Home check will be completed by the inspector;
Suitability of animal to be adopted;
if adoptee have existing animals there will be a meet and greet between the animals
When adoption has been approved the following is required:
Proof of residence ( if renting letter from owner/rental agencies);
Copy of ID;
Payment for sterilization of animal;
Collar & ID Disc;
Rest of adoption contract will be signed
Animal must be sterilized before going to new owner – If Animal is adult
Sterilization appointment will be done by SPCA office;
SPCA office will drop animal of at the vet;
After surgery the adopted animal will be collected by new owner from vet
Puppies & Kittens – adoption contract will be signed with date when they are to be taken for their sterilization ( age to be sterilize is 6 months)
May only be adopted if adoptee is a permanent resident of Magisterial area of the SPCA
Post home checks will be conducted after full adoption has been finalized;
If adoptee move out of the area or change of address the SPCA must be notified;
Animals stays property of the SPCA must be kept on premises/address of adoptee;
If in any circumstances the animal cannot be kept by the owner. The animal must be returned to the SPCA, so that the SPCA can re-home the animal.
